ADC Development Meeting Summary - April 28, 2014
This report summarizes key points from the ADC Development Meeting held on April 28, 2014, including discussions about the timeline for getting back on track, upcoming events like the CERN week and tutorial sessions on xAOD and the new analysis model, and status updates on dCache federation and failover processes. Most sites are operating stably with some glitches resolved quickly. New methods for upstream redirection in dCache have been documented, and tests with transfer types are underway to assess performance and bandwidth limitations.

FAX status report Ilija Vukotic Computation and Enrico Fermi Institutes University of Chicago ADC Development Meeting April 28, 2014
Content • Meetings • We need to get back into “right” week. Again next week? • Pre-GDB contribution? • CERN week 2-6 June • Tutorial – 23 -27 June – dedicated to instructing on xAOD and the new analysis model • ROOTIO – 25-27 June • Status • Traffic • Failover • Change in federating direct dCache • Overflow status
Status • Most sites running stably • Glitches happen but are fixed usually in less than a day • All monitoring tools running stably. • RALPP – disabled due to lack of support • RHUL – will disable if not back to green during next week
Failover • Running stably • A lot of churn on the failover top list • Still to discuss how to inform sites on too frequent failovers
Change in federating direct dCache • Up to now directly federating dCache xrootd doors required a “helper” with two pairs of xrootd/cmsd services • A redirector plugin developed • Enables native dCache upstream redirection • Delivered with dCache N2N plugin (same rpm) • Simplifies configuration, improves redundancy • Documented in TWiki • A very nice document, detailing dCache in federation written by Andy • http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~abh/Fed-dCache/fed_dCache.pdf • MWT2, AGLT2, SFU already using the new method
Overflow status • All the chain untill pilot tested • HC test with transfertype=fax are now running as expected • FT FAX direct rc_test : Simple histogram making 17.5.0, Local DS,transfertype=fax • Waiting for a production pilot to re-start scheduling jobs to overflow (Tuesday) • After running it for a week we will test how well limiting bandwidth works (wanlimitsource, wanlimitsink).
