This study investigates the presence of essential and toxic microelements in grains of Fusarium-infected maize and wheat genotypes using ICP-MS analysis. Two maize and thirteen wheat genotypes were assessed for their microelement contents, including manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, molybdenum, cadmium, and lead. The study found that Fusarium infections increased microelement and toxic metal concentrations in grains. Notably, some genotypes showed higher concentrations of specific elements in different plant parts, emphasizing the importance of genotype selection for crop safety.
