  1. Some Essential Things to know when you Visit to Morocco There is no limit to the fun one can have in Morocco. The seemingly never ending stretches of Desert, the calm and collected local people, the historical monuments, the markets bustling with people, and kids scurrying out from the corner of the streets are some of the charms of this place. But to make sure that the tour is truly enjoyable, here are some of the things to know.

  2. Choose the guide carefully First of all, it would be best to hire a local guide. There is a lot that the place offers and it is impossible to know it all, all by oneself. There is the local perspective of the city which is truly unmatchable. However, not all the guides are made equal. There are many qualities of a good guide including knowledge, experience, communication skills, and professionalism. Since the visitors do not know much about the place, some guides try to fool them by giving wrong information about the place. Also, some of them try to manipulate visitors into giving them more money than needed. Therefore, it is best to hire a professional guide to enjoy the trips to Morocco. Thankfully, there are many travel companies that have the verified and authentic guides. Do not show the feet to people Enjoy the Morocco trips by having some more knowledge of the culture and traditions there. For example, showing the feet or the bottom of the shoe to someone in Morocco is considered offensive and is usually related to negativity. Therefore, make sure that this is avoided at all costs. Also, while visiting someone’s home in Morocco, it is important to take off the shoes and leave them at the door.

  3. Haggling will be required There are certain popular markets where the tourists can buy some really good items. However, the prices are almost always spiked at such markets. The local shopkeepers consider the foreign tourists to be ignorant and thus they believe they can put any price tag to the items. A local guide can be a great help in this case. But sometimes the guides also earn the margin from the profits of the shopkeeper. While buying something, the tourists should be ready to haggle. They should never buy anything at the specified price from the street markets. Local currency It is best to know the value of the currency to get the better deals out of the purchases. Moroccan money is pretty much stable and is around 12 cents for a Dirham. While withdrawing the money from the ATM tourists will get the local currency. Also, there will be 3-4% transaction fee on the international cards.

  4. Most of the local and street vendors do not accept credit/debit cards. Therefore, it is important for the tourists to carry cash. However, carrying too much cash is not advisable as it may not be safe at times. There are many ATM machines to withdraw cash from. Language Most of the Moroccan people speak decent English, especially at the popular tourist locations.
