  3. Do Now Directions: Identify the poetic devices used in each line of poetry. Add the rhyme scheme to the right of the verses.

  4. Today’s Objectives • SW • identify and determine the significance of poetic devices used in a poem. • write and give an oral summary of a poem, including aspects such as the mood, significance of the poem, and rhyme scheme.

  5. Schedule as we move forward: TODAY: Review Day #1 Thursday: Review Day #2 (jeopardy) Friday: Unit assessment Monday & Tuesday: Poetry Workshop Think about What have we learned? What poetic devices do we know about? What have we learned about poetry?

  6. Today YOU are going to become the teacher! 1. You are going to work either independently or with a partner 2. Read the poem given to you/your group 3. Analyze the poem for its poetic devices, mood, and meaning (paragraph analysis) 4. Analyze the significance of the selected lines in your poem 5. Report your responses on the board. 6. Teach your poem to the class! First, we will do a practice poem analysis and teaching together!
