  2. ITC's role in Aid for Trade ITC’s is a 100% Aid for Trade agency providing sustainable, inclusive trade development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions and policymakers.

Promote Private Sector Participation in a Government’s bid for WTO Membership • Building stakeholder confidence in a government’s bid for WTO membership • Develop an understanding of the business implications of the domestic policy and regulatory reforms and their synchronisation with the WTO accession process • Preparing business for the post-accession trading opportunities and challenges

ITC Assistance in Lao PDR and Samoa • Facilitating inclusive public-private dialogue on pressing issues, supported by the sharing of experiences of recently acceding countries and moderated by subject matter experts • Assisting Chambers of Commerce to inform and reach out to their membership on the impact of accession from a business perspective • Building the capacity of the Chambers of Commerce in assessing and analysing trade related information

Private Sector – A Partner in A4T • PPPs are important to finance trade-related infrastructure (e.g. roads, ports, telecommunications, laboratories etc.) • PPPs are also important in trade-related capacity building (business linkages programmes, skills training, institutional development etc.) • Tripartite Partnership In The Pacific To Support Women Vendors • Tripartite PPP envisaged between the cruise ship operator Carnival Australia, donors (NZ /AusAID) and ITC • The project supports small producers in Pacific island states by developing backward linkages in the tourism industry • Impact and sustainability leveraged thanks to market-driven approach with leadership of large corporation. Carnival is one of the world’s largest cruise holiday operators with a fleet of 97 ships.

Aid for Trade – Success Stories Trade Intelligence Tools – Global Public Goods Improving transparency of trade opportunities through the collection, processing & dissemination of trade related data and the provision of tools to support their analysis • 51,000 users in 213 countries & territories (88% DCs or LDCs) • Collaboration on publications with WTO, World Bank, UNCTAD, WEF etc. Consistent data & indicators published, providing greater clarity for enterprises & policymakers • Started collecting NTMs and NTBs through surveys of enterprises in developing countries and official data in major markets – analysis has implications for policy action at the national level (business environment issues) as well as market access negotiations
