  3. when was he born and when did he die? • Born January 19, 1809 • Boston Massachusetts • October 7, 1849

What type of writings did he write about • He wrote short stories like: • The Raven • The Fall of the House of Usher • The Tall-tale heart • The Cask of Amontillado. • The Purloined Letter • The Murders in the Rue Morgue • His poems had struggles between Imagination and reason • Master of gothic In USA • Male charters were insane • Female charters were beautiful dead or dying • Plots involved extreme situations because Poe believed that in an extreme situation a person's true nature is revealed

What happened in his life that might effect the type of movies he likes? • When he was three his mom died of tuberculosis • His only memories of her are his mother vomiting blood and being carried away from him forever • He felt inferior to other kids • He felt closer to his foster mother • Had a affection for women • The arrangement broke off because Edgar had begun to accumulate betting debts • His step mother Frances died in 1829 • He skipped classes • Disobeyed orders until he was finally court marshaled in 1831

  7. what movie would he like? • Monster house • It is kind of like his short story "The Fall of The House of Usher" • Nightmare on elm street • It is about revenge of the death of family and he does his dirty work by invading peoples dreams • Shocker • They try and kill someone with the electric chair and he comes back as electricity and he goes after his adoptive son and the cop the caught him for revenge • See no evil • We pick this because it is has conflict between what is real and what is not
