  3. Recifees una ciudad situada en la costa del Océano Atlántico del noreste de Brasil, es la capital del Estado de Pernambuco y pertenece a la Mesorregión Metropolitana de Recife. Según la estimación de población realizada en 2010 cuenta con 1.546.516 habitantes. La Región Metropolitana de Recife (RMR) con casi 4 millones de habitantes es la más poblada de la Región Nordeste de Brasil, la quinta de todo Brasil y la tercera más densamente poblada, tan solo por detrás de São Paulo y Río de Janeiro.
