  1. What are some other types of energy? AIM: Objectives Understand and give example of other common types of energy

  2. What are some other Energy Types? AIM: Vocabulary MECHANICAL, THERMAL, ELECTRICAL, ELECTROMAGNETIC, NUCLEAR, CHEMICAL

  3. TRY THIS ACTIVITY: Rub your hands together. What type of energy is produced? HEAT Where did that energy come from? Your hands!

  4. The energy originally came from the movement of your hands. The energy somehow changed to heat AIM: What are energy types?

  5. What is THERMAL Energy? Definition: Thermal energy is heat energy AIM: What are energy types?

  6. When I strike a tuning fork --- What type of energy is produced? Where did that energy come from? AIM: What are energy types?

  7. What is MECHANICAL ENERGY? Definition: Energy of Motion wind, moving water, falling rocks, anything moving has mechanical energy Anything that is capable of movement (potential) is also considered mechanical energy (Note: not on test, but sound is also considered a form of mechanical energy because it’s a mechanical wave)

  8. What is Electromagnetic Energy? Definition: energy of light energy of rays: X ray, gamma ray radio waves, sun light. Micro waves AIM: What are energy types?

  9. What is CHEMICAL Energy? Definition: usually some type of stored energy Examples: Battery, food, plants, coal, oil, gas AIM: What are energy types?

  10. What is CHEMICAL Energy? Plants are also a source of chemical energy. They produce sugars during photosynthesis for their later use as food for the growth OR AIM: What are energy types?

  11. What is CHEMICAL Energy? when these plants are consumed by animals - the animals then use this “stored” chemical energy of the plant to feed itself and its young When an animal eat other animals, this is an example of taking in chemical energy, as well. AIM: What are energy types?

  12. What is NUCLEAR Energy? Definition: Energy of the sun … also the energy which exists within an atom between its nucleus and its electrons AIM: What are energy types?

  13. What is Electrical Energy? Definition: Energy which allows an electric current to flow. AIM: What are energy types?

  14. What types of energy exists here? Electrical, heat,

  15. What types of energy exist here? Electrical, electromagnetic (light) thermal

  16. What types of energy are present? Electrical Thermal

  17. What types of energy are present? Electromagnetic Chemical energy

  18. What type of energy is produced? Microwaves - electromagnetic energy

  19. Often, one type of mechanical energy can be converted to another type: Moving water has Kinetic energy, But when the moving water turns a water-wheel … That is an another type of example of mechanical (kinetic) energy

  20. AIM: What are types of Energy? Review MECHANICAL, THERMAL, ELECTRICAL, ELECTROMAGNETIC, NUCLEAR, CHEMICAL

  21. Class Activity Worksheet Concepts 3-2 Concept Enrichment W/S #11 PH Worksheet # 13-1 AIM: What are the energy types?

  22. Homework: INTERNET QUESTIONS FINISH WORKSHEETS Write a Paragraph summarizing the AIM AIM: What are energy types ?
