  2. The Composition Foo Ling Yu, that notorious conman, was yesterday sentenced to 8 years in jail for cheating Soh See Lee of $50,000. His accomplice, Lai Ying, is awaiting sentence for having attempted to lie to police officers about not knowing the plot to swindle the foolish widow. The latter’s daughter, Weiling, was seen crying miserably outside the courthouse because her mother could not afford to provide her with expensive milk powder anymore. It was revealed that John Loo, a toilet inspector, had tipped police off when he discovered the plot while overhearing the defendants’ conversation in an undisclosed public toilet days ago.
