  3. Technique • Catch • Placement • Lock-up Words like “pick-up”, “feeling on the toes” and “acceleration” are important. Blade is placed, locked and then pushed against.

  4. Technique Shoulders in line with oar • Catch • Placement • Lock-up • Body position Head straight in terms of shoulders Head not angled to the opposite rigger!!!

  5. Sticky – not good! Technique • Catch • Drive • Finish • Recovery Outside hand pushes down ‘releases blade from the water’ Inside hand feathers blade Outside hand ‘pushes’ the handle away. Also holds the weight of the oar Bodies in the middle or ‘sympathetic to rigger – not leaning to opposite rigger!! Shoulders in line with oar

  6. Not Sticky! Technique • Catch • Drive • Finish • Recovery Blade has come out without touching or dragging on the water – ‘quietly’
