“AR” verbs • To talk about things you do, you use a verb. A verb is an action. We are going to learn the present tense of “AR” verbs! • In English: She studies Spanish. • En Español: Ella estudiaespañol.
“AR” Verbs • Each verb is always in its infinitve until you conjugate it. Example of infinitives are: estudiar – to study buscar – to look for ayudar – to help esperar – to wait for, to expect entrar – to enter
“AR” Verbs • In order to take the verbs out of their infinitive form, we must conjugate the verb to match the subject. • In order to do this we must drop the “ar” ending and add the follow endings: • Yo – onosotros - amos • Tú – as • Él, ella, ud. – a ellos, (as), uds. - an
“AR” verbs - estudiar Yo – estudionosotros - estudiamos Tú – estudias Él, ella, ud. – estudiaellos (as) uds - estudian
“AR” verbs - usar yo – usonosotros - usamos Tú – usas Él, ella, ud. – usaellos (as), uds. - usan
Pick the verb that fills in the blank • Yo (estudia/estudio) español. • Ellos (llegan/llegamos) a la escuela. • Tú (miras/miro) la television. • Ella (saca/sacas) unabuena nota. • El meastro (enseña/enseñas) matemáticas.
