  4. Class Date Comic books inspired Alexie to become an active reader and writer. Who or what inspired you to value education or to at least pursue a college education? Prison is where Malcolm X gained literacy. Can you name a location where you believe your own path to literacy began?

  5. Class Date Now that you've read two different literacy narratives (Malcolm X and Sherman Alexie), make an argument for which narrative displays more struggle in gaining literacy. Support your argument with evidence from the readings.
