STATUS REPORT • Interface Meetings 11 • Training Programmes5 • Teleconferences Held on the fourth Tuesday of every month (11 held so far) • Initiative of State Governments and other Universities • Haryana Government to have its Community College in collaboration with IGNOU • 51 Community Colleges to come up in the state of Madhya Pradesh at 50 Government Colleges plus one • IGNOU-TNOU collaboration
Website of Community Colleges In spite of several communications, only 70 Community Colleges have prepared their websites. Community College should upload details of Programmes, Courses, Fee, Branches (approved through IGNOU), if any, on their website. For the sake of transparency of the matter, such a disclosure is compulsory for all Community Colleges.
BPP Every Community College should take up BPP as a Category-1 Programme
Regional Language The Community Colleges may use the Regional Language and the lingua franca as the medium of instruction.
CLLC • The Community Colleges are allowed to offer Undergraduate Degree Programmes provided they fulfill the criteria as per the IGNOU norms • For offering such programmes they will have to open CLLCs • The teaching learning transactions at the Community Colleges for the Undergraduate Degree Programmes may be handled in regional language as well as in face-to-face mode.
Eligibility Criteria It has been felt that the eligibility criteria should be based on the nature of complexity and difficulty level of the subjects concerned. So it is proposed that while we maintain the basic eligibility criteria as the existing one we also create an enabling mechanism for getting them modified on case-to-case basis depending on the demands of the knowledge pre-requisites.
Letter of Intent The absolute late date for sending Letter of Intent for Third Year Degree Programme (BA/BCA/BCOM/BTS/BSW) is 30 November, 2010.
Lateral Entry If the Diplomas/Certificates are done through approved/recognized bodies then only Internal and External lateral entry would be permitted, otherwise not.
Paramedical Programmes • No medical programmes can be offered through the Community Colleges • The Paramedical/Allied Health Science programmes listed in the e-mail sent on 27-10-2010 can be offered • The minimum eligibility conditions for Certificate and Diploma may be as under: Certificate: 10th Pass Diploma: 10+2 Pass with Science Background • In the initial stage, Community Colleges should start with Certificate and Diploma, not the Associate Degree Programme
RTI Act 2005 If there is any RTI Question regarding a Community College then that would be referred to the said Community College for a draft reply
DTH IGNOU and the Community Colleges would jointly address the issue of DTH service. In this regard, IGNOU will bear 50% of the payment of the DTH at the Community Colleges
