  6. VSWG Status

  7. SMS Tab of TDS CDG Document 81 • Do carriers prefer a separate tab for SMS or should it be folded into the network and numbering tabs? • Review and approval of this tab

  8. EVDO System Selection Tab • Does the EVDO subnet ID information go on the voice and SMS TDS or the packet data TDS • Cater to the TDS author or the TDS user? • Consider administrative concerns • Consider business realities

  9. PRL Tab of TDS CDG Document 81 • VSWG approval of PRL tab

  10. SMS White Paper CDG Document #133 Led by Daniel Salek, QUALCOMM dsalek@qualcomm.com • "Signaling-based" billing approach • General preference for Point Code based solution • more configuration in signaling network • less/no SMS development • Follow-up work to tighten definition • Individual operators may choose to request a different approach from their RSP

  11. SMS Led by Daniel Salek, QUALCOMM dsalek@qualcomm.com • SMS Partner Qualification Form, CDG Document #132 • Approved pending reformat to CDG standard template • SMS Test Plan, CDG Document #134 • Document approved • Telecom New Zealand • Pelephone • Sprint

  12. Caller ID CDG Document #139 Led by Daniel Salek, QUALCOMM dsalek@qualcomm.com • Document introduced • General agreement on recommendations • If operators plan to implement, next step is specific requirements to vendors • Sponsors requested

  13. Voicemail CDG Document #135 Led by Daniel Salek, QUALCOMM dsalek@qualcomm.com • Document introduced • Voicemail deposit widely supported, clear recommendation • Two main methods for message indicator - slight preference for ANSI-41 method over SMS. • RSP-based solution proposed to ensure widest availability of both methods • Seamless retrieval is challenging • Recommendations for initial steps which will partially address the issues • More work required for full solution • Sprint sponsored, more sponsors requested

  14. Network based + code dialing Led by Bruce Fitzsimons, Lucent fitzsimons@lucent.com • Infrastructure vendor survey – done • Huawei - complete support • Lucent - complete support • Nortel - IS2000D support only, no plans for ASCII +code • ZTE - IS2000D support only (in MSCe), no defined plans for ASCII +code • UTStarCom - no support, no plans • Motorola - no support, no plans • Samsung, LG Electronics, Ericsson - no response • Handset survey • Carrier survey

  15. CIBER X0 toX2 record type migration Led by Gepsie Cox, Cibernet gcox@cibernet.com • CIBER proposal to reject X0 record types early 2007 • The flow of roaming revenue may be impacted if systems are not updated or work arounds created • Cibernet gave training yesterday on how to properly populate these record types • Cibernet volunteered to provide on site training to any carrier that requests assistance • A draft educational piece is in progress • A subgroup is being formed – need volunteers • Contact Gepsie or Libby to sign up for this team

  16. VSWG Coverage Exchange Initiative (CEI) • The challenge • Not all carriers provide roaming coverage maps to their roaming partners in the most usable format with the most valuable information • This limits the ability for a carrier to fully market and support roaming coverage • Revenue is left on the table or wasted • Action plan • Determine what needs to be exchanged between carriers and how to best exchange it

  17. CEI Subgroup Participants Subgroup lead Travis Lathrop Travis.C.Lathrop@sprint.com of Sprint Nextel Participating companies • Alltel • Bell Mobility • KDDI • Oceanic Digital • QUALCOMM • Sprint Nextel • Verizon Wireless • Vivo • w2bi

  18. VSWG CEI Status • Short term goal • Create a set of requirements for coverage exchange between carriers so carriers can immediately begin to provide standardized mapping information to partners • Long term goal • Create an on line coverage repository where carriers can access their partners roaming coverage information in the agreed upon standardized format

  19. Reported Broadcast IMSI 11_12
