  4. 1. Jesus Places Us in Trials • 14 Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 So Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone. (John 6:14-15)

  6. 2. Jesus Prays for Us in Trials • 31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32)

  7. 2. Jesus Prays for Us in Trials • Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25) • “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.” (John 17:15)

  8. 2. Jesus Prays for Us in Trials • My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous… (1 John 2:1)

  9. 2. Jesus Prays for Us in Trials • 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. (Romans 8:33-34)

  10. The Timing • 46 After bidding them farewell, He left for the mountain to pray. 47 When it was evening, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and He was alone on the land. 48 Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. (Mark 6:46-48)

  11. 3. Jesus Perceives Us During Trials • 47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48 Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea… (Mark 6:47-48, NKJV)

  14. 4. Jesus Postpones His Help during Trials… • 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)

  15. 4. Jesus Postpones His Help during Trials… • 2 Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 And let perseverance have its perfect result, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4)

  16. 4. Jesus Postpones His Help during Trials… • But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” (John 11:4)

  17. Walking on Water • 47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48 Then He saw them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them. 18. Show Me Your Glory • 18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” (Exodus 33:18-20)

  19. Passed By • 21 Then the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.” (Exodus 33:21-23)

  20. Passed By • 9 Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.” (1 Kings 19:9-10)

  21. Show Me Your Glory • 11 So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
