Statistics • Only 21% of Americans know how to administer CPR (American Red cross). • 18% of Americans actually have a first aid kit at home. • 41% of Americans do not have an emergency stock of food or water. • 27% of American do not have extra medications to treat conditions set aside for disaster emergencies.

  11. Water • What to Use • What to Avoid • TIPS: Store the water in a cool dry place. Every six months dump it out and replace it. For clean water add 6-10 drops of bleach per gallon of water. Keep at least a 3 day supply of water per person. Two quarts for drinking. Two quarts for sanitation.

  12. Food • During a disaster you might be out of power or gas for weeks. • Foods that need to be cooked will do you no good. • If you take canned food, make sure you remember a can opener. • Store at least a three-day supply per person. • Don’t forget food for your pets.
