  2. Young Life Alain was born in Odessa, Russia. His dad was a manufacturer, but also a poet. They moved to Bulgaria from poverty, his father living off translations and his mom giving violin lessons. He studied Romance Philology at U. Brussels.

  3. He traveled often to New York, eventually moving there and becoming co-editor of a paper. He served in 2 armies (French & American) He served as an important officer in Berlin He finished his education and immersed himself in writing letters.

  4. He taught French lit in many American Universities (Brandeis University, UQ-Milwaukee) He was the chair of American Studies for Lyon He was “naturalized” as a French citizen Throughout his life, he was the editor of multiple magazines, thus reading through articles and poems. He died in Paris at age 77.
