  2. What is a conclusion? • A conclusion is a summary of the piece. It is putting the thesis together with the data and warrant and coming up with a conclusion or ending thought. • It is a written way to support the original thesis with any endnotes.

  3. So where to start… • Every conclusion begins with a topic sentence. In a conclusion, the topic sentence is the restatement of the thesis.

  4. Our conclusion outline T = Restate the Thesis

  5. Provide your data Provide a summary of your data form that that backs up your thesis statement.

  6. Conclusion outline T=Restate the thesis • Mention the data that supports your thesis

  7. The Warrant • The warrant is how the data supports the thesis, how is this data relevant in supporting the thesis. • Discuss issues, problems or errors with the investigation.

  8. The ending • Wrap your conclusion up with an ending statement with something relevant to your topic but that goes out on a different tangent. • The ending statement should add relevance to your topic in a different light, in order to keep the audience basically wondering or wanting to hear more.

  10. Example • Studying early for AP exams does indeed lead to better scores. Studies comparing students scores who studied the night before or a month before show that early studiers earn a higher score.These experimental studies scientifically prove that studying earlier does lead to a better score.Now that studying earlier is known to produce better scores, what methods of studying can lead to even better scores is the next question.
