Port Stephens Community Care • $1.6M HACC provider • NFP company limited by guarantee • 7 board members and 60 members • 34 employees, 240 volunteers • 1,200 clients • North of Newcastle – retirement destination • Rapidly ageing population
What were our challenges? Two funding agreements Community Care Common Standards Competing in a consumer directed market Competition from regional/national/international providers with corporate support Changing client expectations – continuum of care Competing for the shrinking workforce
What were our options? Stay as we were Amalgamate with other similar not-for-profit organisation(s) Amalgamate with another complementary larger organisation with similar values and vision Be taken over by a larger organisation
What was our process? • Increasing Board’s Awareness • Board Briefing • PSCC Aged Care Taskforce • Terms of Reference: • Goals: investigate models and make recommendation • Review Productivity Commission Report • Investigate opportunities and risks • Develop a plan • Communication with stakeholders
