  1. Creating and AccessingYour KCTCS E-Mailand Student Self-ServiceAccountsCreated by Todd BryanDirector, MCTC Student Support Services

  2. Introduction • One of the first and most important things that a new student at any KCTCS school needs to do is set up his or her e-mail account and student self service access. • This PowerPoint will guide you through the steps of setting up and accessing your e-mail account as well as using that login information to access student self service features.

  3. Step One: E-mail • The key to accessing almost all electronic services offered by KCTCS is your e-mail username and password. • Because of this, it is necessary to create an e-mail account before trying to access any other KCTCS services. • You will need the following information to set up your account: • Your Last Name (which I hope you know) • Your Student ID number (which you can get from your KCTCS registration documents or your advisor)

  4. E-mail Setup • To begin creating your KCTCS e-mail account, first open Internet Explorer (no other browser will work) and type this address into the address bar as shown, then hit enter:

  5. https://webmail.kctcs.edu Click here to start setting up your new KCTCS webmail account. This account information will be used to access all of your student resources; Self Service (for grades and financial information), and Blackboard (for online courses).

  6. 2. Enter your student ID number here. 1. Enter your last name here. 3. Click here to finish & register for you E-mail account.

  7. Creating your account • The next screen that comes up will prompt you to enter a password for your account. This password MUST be at least 8 characters long and contain both letters and numbers. In addition, the password must contain a mix of capital and lower-case letters (one capital will do). • Be sure to write your password down and put it in a safe place!

  8. Accessing your e-mail account Click here to logon to your e-mail account, you will need the username and password you created in the previous step.

  9. Type your username and password into the appropriate boxes and click OK to log in to your webmail account. Please note that if you log on at KCTCS computers (at the schools) this step will not be necessary as you can click directly on the MS Outlook shortcut on your desktop to get your e-mail. This will not work, however, until you have set up your account. With the webmail site, however, you can access your school e-mail and personal calendar from ANYWHERE!

  10. Navigation buttons for multiple pages of e-mails Create New e-mail button E-mails you have received. E-mail you are currently viewing (selected at left). Outlook Web Access Controls

  11. Accessing PeopleSoft Student Self Service • To access your student self service account, start by going back to https://webmail.kctcs.edu • Alternately, you can type https://students.kctcs.edu into the address bar of internet explorer.

  12. Use this link to go the login page for Student Self Service, where you can access a wealth of personal and academic information.

  13. Click here to login to self service.

  14. https://students.kctcs.edu/psp/stdsaprd/?cmd=login Enter Your E-Mail Login & Password Then click “Sign In”

  15. Click on the Self Service Link.

  16. View your student account, make e-payments & view & accept financial aid. View your enrollment info and class schedules. Another way of viewing the same information. Place to view your personal information. View progress you have made towards you degree, includes the breakdown of classes you have taken and still need to take to graduate with your intended degree. View Transfer Credit from other schools. View grades and unofficial transcripts. Apply for and check your admission status.

  17. Restrictions • You will be unable to access some of the self service features of student self service, including self enrollment and self withdrawal, at this time.

  18. Conclusion • Now that you know how to access your student e-mail account and student self service features, spend some time playing around with your new set of tools. Send some e-mail, check your student bill and financial aid, or even get a better feel for the progress you have made towards your degree! Further presentations will be available in the future to highlight specific features of both webmail and self service!
