  1. Understanding Liver Cysts: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Options

  2. Fluid-filled cavities inside the liver are called Hepatic cysts or liver cysts. They have been associated with complications in the liver, such as hemorrhage, which is a rupture or the compression of the biliary tree.

  3. Symptoms: Liver cysts are generally asymptomatic. Liver Cysts occur in about 5% of the population, out of which 10% develop following symptoms.

  4. ● Pain ● Nausea ● Discomfort ● Early Satiety ● Weightloss

  5. Detection: Right upper quadrant ultrasound is useful in initial detection. CT scan is required for detailed detection of abnormalities caused in the liver, biliary tree, and gallbladder.

  6. Treatment: Liver cysts generally do not require surgery. However, it does involve the removal of a large portion of the cyst wall.
