  2. Anatomy • the art of dissecting, or artificially separating the different parts of any organized body, to discover their location, structure, and meaning

  3. Physiology • Physiology is defined as the study of the characteristics and behavior of organisms. • To study the function of living activities and their parts.

  4. When do you think they began studying about anatomy & physiology?

  5. All the way back to the Ancient Egyptians! These are medical tools that the Ancient Egyptians used. Do you know what they used to suture (sew) open wounds? It’s amazing, doctors have been doing this for about 4,000 years!

  6. Interesting Facts about the Egyptians: • . They believed they were healed by supernatural powers from shaman (sha-man) Witch doctor medicine man • Historians believe that they learned about diseases when they performed burial rituals.
