  3. What’s the effect? What’s the effect of a POV shot? Write down a few ideas for what you think the effect of the different shot types/angles is.

  4. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly We’re going to watch a clip from the end of this film. Make notes on the camera shots/angles used and the effect. Cut to five minutes in!

  5. Close Analysis of Shots The director has chosen an over the shoulder shot to show the relationship between each of the men – we can see how far away they are from each other and how difficult it would be to keep an eye on both of the opponents. This creates a feeling of tension and fear.

What shot type/angle would you use to... • Show a terrifying giant? • Show a spot of blood on a murder weapon? • Show a character leaving his house to pop round to his next door neighbour? • Show a baby chick in a nest that’s being circled by a hawk? • Show a woman’s reaction to news that her husband is cheating? • Show where a character is driving to whilst they’re behind the wheel of a car?
