  5. Passive cruelty Consist of the following: Starvation Dehydration Parasite infestations Failure to seek veterinary care when needed

  6. Animals that are violent and have been taken or surrendered to shelters are usually euthanized.

  7. Laws The following states have a law that states animal cruelty is a misdemeanor.

  8. History Robert K. Ressler, an agent with Federal Bureau of Investigation’s behavioral sciences unit, studied serial killers and noted, “Murderers like Jeffrey Dahmer very often start out by killing and torturing animals as if they were kids.”

  9. Movies Overseas In the South Korean film The Isle, a frog was skinned alive while fish were mutilated. In the Italian film Cannibal Holocaust, a turtle was beheaded, and ripped apart. A monkey was beheaded and its brains were consumed by natives.
