Amos Fortune’s childhood • He was born in 1710 in Africa and was the royal prince. • His Father is the royal king of Africa. • Due of his color, he was people treated him poorly • At fifteen he was captured and made a slave • He traveled by boat from his homeland to Boston • He was sold for $30.00

  3. Amos Fortune Being sold into Slavery • When he got to Boston, Mass. the white people were auctioning to sell the black people into slavery. • He was bought for $30 and was given to Celia and Caleb Copeland. • When he was bought his owners were really kind to him. • He was fed and clothed and not beaten • They taught him about the Christian God

  4. Amos Fortune a Christian Doctor • He used his God to heal other people like the poor and the sick. • He always carried a bag of medicine with him just in case he ran into a sick person. • He healed a man with amnesia by giving him some medicine that will heal him. • Another woman he healed also. He put his hand on her stomach and prayed to his God and her sickness went away.

  5. Amos Fortunes’ Wife and Children • He married Violet • They had three children. • Lily, Lydia, Celyndia. • Amos went off and let his wife take care of his children. • He set his children and his wife free out of slavery.

  6. Amos Fortune's Legacy • Amos Fortune was a great doctor in his life time. He used his only God to heal his people. A man like Amos Fortune should be in the doctor hall of fame because Amos is one of the great doctors in the world.

  7. Amos Fortunes Death • Amos Fortune was buried in a church yard. And on his grave the words, “Sacred to the memory of Amos Fortune who was born free in Africa and a slave in America he purchased liberty professed Christianity lived reputably and died hopefully.Nov.17,1801 Aet.91”
