NSBE 101 • The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. • It was founded in 1975 by the “Chicago Six”, six undergraduate students at Purdue University. • Today NSBE is comprised of over 200 collegiate, 70 professional and 80 pre-collegiate active chapters nationwide and overseas. • These chapters are geographically divided into six regions. What is the PCI Program? • Focuses specifically on engaging and sustaining the interest of pre-college students in science, mathematics, engineering and technology • Provides academic, technical, and leadership development in preparation for college and their careers National Society of Black Engineers

  22. PCI Vision (Regional) • To increase the amount of Pre-Collegiate students prepared to pursue engineering in college. • To increase the amount of Pre-Collegiate students participating in NSBE Programming. National Society of Black Engineers

  23. My Vision • Establish a strong S.T.E.M pipeline that starts from the middle school, goes in to high school and ends in college (specifically RPI). National Society of Black Engineers

  30. T.O.R.C.H Chairperson • Torch is NSBE’s community service initiative. The aim is to use our technical backgrounds to positively impact the community. • Objectives: • To provide science, engineering, technology and mathematics exposure opportunities within Black communities • To stimulate enthusiasm about science, engineering, technology and mathematics within Black communities • To provide introductory training to members of the community in modern technology, software and technical knowledge • To engage in community and outreach services National Society of Black Engineers
