  1. Grade 10 GUI Interfaces

GUI • A graphical user interface (GUI) is a human-computer interface (i.e., a way for humans to interact with computers) that uses windows, icons andmenus and which can be manipulated by a mouse and often to a limited extent by a keyboard as well through short cut keys. • A window is a (usually) rectangular portion of the monitor screen that can display its contents, this is normally in the format of icons, text or images. • A major feature is the ability for multiple windows to be open simultaneously. Each window can display a different information, that have been opened or created within a single application.

  3. Why use GUI? • GUI interfaces are created for company databases so that it is easy for staff to use. • Staff will be able to use all aspects of the system without having to know who the system is created or how tables, data and code is linked together.
