  9. “Hi Moses,  I am a medical student at UCSD……I think this has made life in med school harder than it should be.  I have a very positive spirit and therefore have been able to keep going; yet someone less positive may have a harder time surviving here. I can't say that I would recommend UCSD to other minorities. There just isn't that culturally diverse environment that many minorities are used too and it makes the school unpleasant. I do enjoy medical school but because I look forward to the skills I will have and working with the community that I want to work with.  It is not my intention to put UCSD down in anyway it does produce good doctors, but its lack ofLatinos and others with similar vision and goals make it very difficult for the few Latinos here to make it through school without difficulties…..”

  10. Solutions #1-Med Schools need to admit to the problem #2-Realize there perception of a “risky” is quite skewed and simply not true. #3-They need to make this a priority. #4-Work with Universities that are successful
