Understanding Ecology Through Current Environmental Issues

DESCRIPTION

In this lesson, students will read and analyze articles related to ecological issues to define key ecological concepts. Starting with context clues, we will explore various environmental topics including "dead zones" and the impact of human activities on wildlife, such as the restriction of horseshoe crab harvesting for the benefit of shorebirds. The lesson includes vocabulary exercises, reading comprehension tasks using graphic organizers, and class discussions. Finally, students will reflect on their learning through a learning log that encourages complete sentences.
