Directions to Merriam-Powell Research Station via Woody Mountain Road

To reach the Merriam-Powell Research Station (MPRS) from Flagstaff, take Rte. 17N, which becomes Milton Ave. After approximately a mile from the intersection with Chevron and Barnes & Noble, turn left onto W Route 66. Continue west for over a mile, then turn left onto Woody Mountain Rd. Travel straight for 4 miles (3 miles on dirt) until you see the large Arboretum sign and gate on your right. Once inside, follow the signs to MPRS along the winding driveway.

Kiltie Lane S Woody Mtn Rd Arb/MPRS As you enter Flagstaff from the south, Rte 17N will turn into Milton Ave.  About one mile from the first stoplight on Milton, at the intersection with a Chevron and the Barnes and Noble, turn left on W route 66. Go west on Rte 66 for a little over a mile. Then turn left on Woody Mountain Rd. Go straight on Woody Mountain Rd for 4 mi. (dirt surface for 3 mi) to the Arboretum entrance on your right (large Arboretum sign and gate). Once you enter the Arboretum gate, follow the signs for the Merriam-Powell Research Station (MPRS) along a winding driveway.
