  1. Practical Issues with P.e.r.t and p.e.r.t. diagnosticCouncil of Student Affairs Meeting October 14, 2011Presented by: Marc Webb, FACTA President, Palm Beach State CollegeDr. Henri Benlolo, FACTA Council Member, College of Central Florida

  2. About FACTA • Established September 17, 2008 • FACTA-L listserv • 243 members • FCS, BOG, and ICUF • 3 members on the P.E.R.T. Technical Work Group • 5 members on the P.E.R.T. Change Committee • 1 member serving as the NCTA State Liaison Coordinator • Building Professional Ties • AFC SDC • CSA

  3. P.E.R.T. System Outages

  4. P.E.R.T. Reliability • Reported outages between May and August represent multiple institutions experiencing the same issue. • Most test products such as ACCUPLACER, COMPASS, and TABE may only experience 1 unscheduled outage during an entire year. • P.E.R.T. experienced 10 reported outages in a 4 month period. • However, no P.E.R.T. outages have been reported since August 22, 2011. • This is a good sign for the product’s reliability.

  5. P.E.R.T. Timing • According to FLDOE, the P.E.R.T. is taking 2 hours to complete. • This is calculated on a per section report • This does not reflect the time to take the entire battery. • FACTA test administrators use the time estimate on the student score report to calculate average test taking time.

  6. What We Still Need • A Coordinators Guide • A Users Guide • Alternate formats of the test • P & P, Large Print, and Braille are on the way according to FLDOE (No ETA on completion) • Audio version (Not planned at this time) • Lockdown browser needed • Vanguard currently in use on McCann’s Measured Success platform for the SOCE (State Officer Certification Examination – FDLE) • A better upload process • Uploads in segments currently • An updated average time to take the entire test

  7. P.E.R.T. in the High Schools • FACTA played a large role in giving the FCS office information for drafting of the P.E.R.T. FAQ for the high schools • Still waiting on more details from FLDOE and local area school districts. • Changes in P.E.R.T. test volume are expected for FCS schools.

  8. P.E.R.T. Diagnostic • Issue to have testing be responsible for hosting diagnostics • Time issues • Course related • Should use learning labs • Full access to all diagnostics after the student takes the P.E.R.T. • Currently, the access to the P.E.R.T. Diagnostic platform must be done using a proctor login. • Student not able to login remotely at this time. • Printed diagnostic score report does not include competency descriptions • It uses codes instead of words (very confusing)
