  1. Chesapeake Bay Pollutants By Joshua Cohen

  2. 1989-1999 Toxic Releases • Between 1989 and 1995, the rates of pollution decreased. • Then, between 1995 and 1999, they dramatically increased. • This was due to the lowering of the environmental standards of the Republican • Government. ’89 ’91 ’93 ’95 ’97 ‘99 Each of the years shown include the following year.

  3. 1999 TRI (Toxic Release Index) Releases By Media • Only a very small fraction of the total Lbs. , 4,795, of toxin released, was into the air. • This is very bad for those who took on the responsibility of the 127,195 Lbs. of toxins. • POTW is transfer by payment of toxins to other places.

  4. 1999 TRI Transfers by media • In 1999, 367 transferred Lbs. of toxin were brought to a treatment plant and treated. • I am happy that our state is actually taking charge and helping to decontaminate the Bay. • “by media” means that publicly known transfers. That does not mean that there were other “disposed” toxins

  5. We know that our Bay may be polluted. But I am sure that our state will be able to fix it. Thank you
