  2. Why is important to have a variety of animals in the bay? • It is important to have a variety of living things In the bay. The seas quirts help the bay get clean. The blue crab helps the bay healthy. Seas quirts are a type of fish they look like sea grapes. Each sea squirt has two siphons they are part of a family called chordates. They eat sewage and filter the water and they also eat slugs and fish.

  4. Blue crab • Blue crabs are the most well know creatures of the bay. They are called blue crabs because of claws and blue skin. They stay underwater and sometimes meadows of the bay grasses. They eat worms, fungi, plankton, bacteria, mollusks, shrimp, barnacles, krill, Cray fish, Detritus, tiny turtle hatchlings. On land crabs walk side ways using its middle pairs of legs.

  5. Phytoplankton • Phytoplankton are little tiny plants. Algae, diatoms, and bacteria is phytoplankton they produce there own food through photosynthesis. Zooplankton eat Phytoplankton they grow rapidly creating algal blooms. Phytoplankton cannot swim so they ride on the water.

  6. Conclusion • I learned that the chesapeake bay is important to the animals and they are trying there best to keep it clean such sea quirts they clean the bacteria from the bay so now I know that I need to help the bay.
