Regulation Update Several rules had to be updated to avoid EPA sanctions and to approve plans: • Section 12 Rules: • Address I-SIP issues • Rules will be incorporated in the NV SIP • Sections 41, 90, 91, 92, 93 Rules: • Minor changes in order to approve PM10 Maintenance Plan/Redesignation Request

Las Vegas Ozone Study (LVOS) • Assess influence of stratosphere-to-troposphere transport and long-range transport from Asia on ozone in Clark County • Use of TOPAZ (Tunable Optical Profiler of Aerosols and Ozone) • Campaign from May 19 to June 28 • At least 4 episodes of ozone intrusion – 3 episodes with Asian contribution • In 2014, using same methodology, at least 9 days were identified as stratospheric ozone intrusions • Occur more frequently in S NV than we assumed • Stratospheric Ozone Intrusions are identified in the EER as a natural event.

  6. Ozone Advance • Clark County is “on the bubble” • Current design value is 77 ppb • We want to avoid nonattainment as long as we can • On June 12, 2013, DAQ submitted participation request • On June 23, 2014, DAQ submitted the Path Forward letter • No comments from EPA yet on the Path Forward letter

  7. Projects in 2015 • Prepare for 2015 Ozone Season Study • Ozone, CO and RH instruments on Angel Peak and Arden Peak • Identify STT -> support exceptional event package • Possibly ozone monitor in Primm • Anticipate new ozone NAAQS • Analyze impacts of new NAAQS
