  2. Exam Locations Front Range Community College 2121 Miller Drive (off of Pike Rd.) Enter Door #4 and wait quietly for exam proctor.

  3. Exam Locations Vacant JC Penney Building (955 S. Hover Street) Wait outside SOUTH Door You will be allowed inside once the examination room is ready

  4. PLEASE NOTE: The JC Penney Building is NOT HEATED!!! Be sure to bring a warm coat just in case!!!

  5. Exam Schedule Most exams meet more than once. Arrive prior to “time to report”. Wait quietly to be taken to exam room.

  6. Exam Schedule You will notice that the actual scheduled time for exams is longer. Time given is “cushioned”.

  7. AP Exams Double-Check AP Exam Schedule. AP exams are offered at a “late exam” date. Notify Mrs. Brown if you have to take a late AP exam.

  9. Conduct of the Examinations(Items of Importance) • Bring photo ID • Enter in a quiet, orderly manner - assigned seating • No refreshments other than water allowed • No electronic devices - leave your cell phone/iPod/mp3 player in the car!

Conduct of the Examinations • “Lucky Charm” ok to bring, but it must not distract anyone and must be checked for unauthorized materials. • Only IB stationery at desk (pens, pencils, eraser, ruler - NO CORRECTING FLUID - NO TIMERS). Do not bring pencil cases! • No ball caps or hoods allowed! No bulky clothing (except if necessary at exam site). • Do NOT wear shirts with formulas on them! • Do not bring your purse/backpack or valuables!

  11. Conduct of the Examinations • You may not share anything during the exam (paper, calculators) • No clocks (only wristwatches). No watch alarms!! • Blue or black ink pens (pencil for multiple choice exams and graphs/charts). No erasable ink pens. Draw a line through mistakes. • Rough notes will not be submitted to IB for marks. You cannot take anything out of the room and must give all scratch paper to coordinator before you leave. • Handwriting must be legible.

  12. Conduct of the Examinations • Study the schedule - start times are all different! • Plan ahead and arrive at or before the time to report • You will have breaks between exams and are allowed to “consult notes and engage freely in discussion”. • Pick up after yourself at FRCC!

Conduct of the Examinations Early Departures No one leaves during first hour No one leaves during last 15 minutes (If an exam is 1 hr, 15 minutes, nobody leaves) End of Exam • Check for completion of exam cover sheet • All examination materials to invigilator (including notes) • Leave in a quiet and orderly manner • No communication of content of the test for 24 hours!!

  14. Conduct of the Examinations Late Arrivals A student may enter an examination up to 60 minutes after the start time. They do not receive additional time. Temporary Absences Bathroom breaks Illness - extra time given at discretion of coordinator

  15. What will be provided: Paper – stationery booklets and “official IB lined and graph paper” Clean copies of Physics and Chemistry Data Booklets Clean copies of Math formula booklets Music scores, blank music paper and Listening CD’s (Music students must provide their own CD player!)

  16. Calculators • Allowed on: • All Math Studies Papers • Mathematics SL P2 only • Mathematics HL P2 and P3 only • Biology, Chemistry, Physics Paper 2 and 3 • Recommended models: TI 83+, TI 84+ and Silver editions TI Nspire with 84 template • Prohibited models : TI 89, 92 • You must use your own calculator for exam. You are responsible for making sure it is compliant. Random checks during exam. If not compliant, misconduct will be filed and calculator taken.

  17. Calculators • A few TI-83+ will be available in case of emergency • You may NOT have games or any applications on your calculator in the exam (no science tools, no text…) • BRING EXTRA BATTERIES!!

  18. Candidates Arriving Late Non-Acceptable Reason Misreading timetable, oversleeping, car out of gas First 60 minutes - okay - no extra time Acceptable Reason Civil unrest, road accident Serious illness - hospital Coordinator discretion, IB determination

  19. School Expectations • You will be excused first 3 blocks for morning exams and last 2 blocks for afternoon exams. • You are expected to be in all other classes!

  20. New This Year: • Answer Booklets • 4 page/8 page • Each student will receive a guide Very specific about completion of booklets!

  21. IMPORTANT: • You MUST use an answer booklet for ALL written answers (that are not in the exam paper itself) • You MUST write your candidate session number in the boxes on the front of the answer booklet. • You must NOT pull the booklet apart (it must remain stapled)

  22. IMPORTANT: • You must NOT fold or disfigure the answer booklet. Do not remove blank sheets. • You MUST use the answer booklet to show all work. This IS your “scratch paper” as well. (You will “X” off your scratch work. • If you make a mistake completing your candidate number on your booklet, ask for another one.

  23. Paperwork Order: From FRONT to BACK • Blue Coversheet (with students information) • The examination paper (if students write answers in it) • Answer Booklet(s) • Graph Paper (if used)

  24. Misconduct • Stealing/Photographing Examination Papers • Failing to obey instructions of the coordinator or invigilator • Communicating with another candidate • Helping or receiving help from another candidate • Impersonating another candidate • Referring to unauthorized material

  25. Misconduct • Consulting material outside the examination room during a period of absence • Attempting to influence the coordinator or invigilator • Behaving in a way that may disrupt the examination or distract other candidates • Submitting work for assessment that is not authentic • Disclosing or discussing the content of any examination paper with any person outside their immediate school community within 24 hours after an examination • The coordinator has the right to expel, from the examination room, any candidate whose behavior is interfering with the proper conduct of the examination.

  26. Earning the IB Diploma • IB Exam scores: 1 – 7 points • TOK + Extended Essay: 3 possible points • Total Possible = 45 points • Needed for IB Diploma: 24 points

  27. What If… I do not earn the diploma… Lots of reasons a student may not earn the IB Diploma. (Refer to “Requirements of the IB Diploma”)

  28. Issue of Results - to You • Candidate Results are issued to coordinator July 5 • Candidate Results are issued to student July 6 • Issue of results is by World Wide Web - access by PIN. You will receive your PIN code before school is out. DO NOT LOSE THIS PAPER! • IB does not issue results to candidates, families, or representatives any other way other than the web. • Contact Julie Webster if questions/problems in July webster_julie@svvsd.org

  29. Issue of Results - to Universities • Debbie will send out a form at end of year asking for the name of the university you would like to send IB results. • IB Diploma or certificate results will be sent to NHS in August/September. • Please stop by to see us! 

  30. Exam Retakes • Retakes do not guarantee the IB Diploma • Last day to register: July 25th (with full payment) • Cost: $104 per exam, plus registration fee ($151). • Email Julie Webster • webster_julie@svvsd.org

  31. Exam Proctors Needed Proctors are needed for each IB exam. (You may not proctor your child’s exam.) If you have one morning or afternoon available, we can use you!! Call Debbie Hauck (303) 652-2550
