Final Project – PostHoles in History What are the steps? • Topic Choice – Which turning point will you report on? • Teams of 2 (3 [only] if Mr. Skoog designates) • Your report, your Presentation & speech • Research – COW + Library • Write- Your Team’s Report • Prezi or PowerPoint – Talks about Big Ideas of your Report • Speech – Rehearse it! Time it! • Present! • Rubric – How will I be graded? • Peer evaluations, grading, and test • What about class? What will our schedule look like?

Topic Selection – Postholes in HistoryYour team’s choice! • The Korean War 1950-1953 • The Cold War • Guns vs. Butter – Vietnam War at Home • The Vietnam War • Martin Luther King – Civil Disobedience and the Civil Rights Movement • Aggressive Civil Rights – Malcolm X and the Black Panthers • America in the 60s and 70s – Media (music and entertainment), people, society, the culture of America, generation gap, life in general! • The Race to Space: From Sputnik to the Apollo Missions

  5. Step 1 - Team Report • 2-3 pages in length • 12 pt font Times New Roman– max! Double Spaced. • Sources Cited • Co-authored by both or all team members – every person does part of the writing! • What is the report about? • Tell us all about your topic • Bring your topic to life – explain how it was a Turning Point • Create a piece of writing that gets people talking

STEP 2Your speech and Presentation • Use Prezi Software or Ppt to create a presentation • Mr. Skoog will help you sign up for this • You can use your Blog Gmail • Use note cards with bullets to help us connect to your topic • Just reading your speech = nap time • 4-6 minute presentation • Rehearse it! Time it! • We will visit ways to make speeches explode during live performance

How will I be graded? • See the rubric! • Peer evaluations • We will spend 2 days doing this • It will be elaborate, thoughtful, and fair • Student created Bloom on key ideas from your reports/presentations questions for unit exam • Mr. Skoog will help you with this • Questions will help you connect with our Postholes/Turning Points in our unit

  8. So…what will schedule look like? • Work periods • Much work will be done in class • Periods will scattered. Ex: Mon-mini lesson on Key LT Tues: PostHoles Work Period  Wed: Work Period  Thurs: Notes+Film clip  Fri: Bloom discuss + work period • You’ll have to capitalize on this to achieve • Be prepared to get together out of school if needed • Library and COW time • Skoogmini-lessons on key Postholes or Turning Points  then YOU go deeper. • LBs w/ Gos, Film clips, Text-work and Bloom discussions, debate, review games, etc…

  9. Rubric – how will I be graded? Exemplary – A __ Report is 2-3 pages – typed __ Report is focused, informative, and detailed __ All sources are cited – no evidence of plagiarism __ Prezi uses creative visuals appropriate to topic that help the audience connect to your story __ Presentation walks us through key story points of your topic __ Speech is rehearsed and professional __ Speech and presentation are detailed and focused __ Speech is within 4-6 minute window

Strong – B __ Report is 2-3 pages – typed __ Report is focused, informative, and detailed __ Sources are cited – minor errors may appear in citing sources __ Prezi uses visuals appropriate to topic that are useful __ Speech and presentation are detailed and focused __ Speech and presentation are 4-6 minutes in length

  11. Rubric – how will I be graded? Proficient – C __ Report is 2-3 pages – typed __ Report is informative and complete __ Sources are cited – numerous errors appear in citing sources __ Prezi uses visuals appropriate to topic __ Speech and presentation is focused, but may show some lack of preparation __ Speech and presentation may fall beneath or above 4-6 minute window

  12. Rubric – how will I be graded? Developing – D __ Report is 2-3 pages - typed __ Improvement needed in citing sources __ Prezi is present, but lacks sufficient information and visuals to connect to the audience __ Speech and presentation show a lack of preparation __ Speech and presentation may fall beneath or above 4-6 minute window
