About Amazon • Amazon.com started as an online book store but soon evolved to sell anything desired by consumers • Amazon is a company comprised by innovators that are always looking to create a better experience for customers • Their most recent venture was publishing S3 which is a self-publishing application.

  3. Why is it Web 3.0? • E-Book: Kindle • Amazon S3: storage solution that is based on Amazon's technology. • Amazon creates a user customized experience by displaying items related to searches or recent purchases.

  4. Why 3.0 (contd.) • Amazon reviews: They were among the first of companies to offer comprehensive reviews of products. • Amazon operates a mobile site for cell phone browsers. • Amazon has a presence on Second Life and other virtual worlds.

  5. Social Media • Amazon has incorporated the use of social media to advertise their site, new products that they offer, and deals that draw people to their site. • This generates more traffic on the web site which generates more orders and therefore higher profits.
