Pioneer Senior Bon Voyage Party Pioneer Senior Bon Voyage Party • Tradition since 1995 when an alcohol-related car accident claimed the life of a Pioneer Graduate on graduation night. • School is transformed to provide games, inflatables, casino, prizes, food and more; giving Graduates a fun, safe, drug and alcohol-free environment.

Pioneer Senior Bon Voyage Party • Over 300 Graduates attend to celebrate as a class! • June 8, 2017 from 10:30pm-4:00am, following graduation ceremony. • Throwing a party for 300 people takes many hands. Please consider volunteering your time, donating a raffle prize, a personal or corporate donation.

Calendar for First Semester 7 • 9/16/16 - Last day to drop/add classes • 9/19/16 - First day we begin processing college applications • 10/1/16 – Begin filling out FAFSA for Federal student aid • 10/17/16- Last Day to submit applications to schools with early notification deadlines of November 1, 2016 (this includes U of M) • 11/22/16- Last day to turn in college applications to have them submitted before winter break • 1/12/17 Financial Aid/Scholarship Night • Request mid-year report through parchment.com after February 1, 2017 • Send Final Transcript after July 1, 2017

Calendar for Second Semester 8 • 3/1/17 Priority deadline for submitting FAFSA • 5/1/17 Deadline to accept offer of admission to most colleges • 5/1/17 - 5/12/17 AP Testing • 6/2/2017 Last Day for Seniors • 6/8/17 Tentative Graduation Day • 7/01/17 Students need to request a final transcript from parchment.com for the college they plan to attend in the fall of 2017

Steps in Applying to College 9 • Complete Student Profile and Parent Brag Sheet • READ DIRECTIONS FOR EACH APPLICATION CAREFULLY! • Make a master calendar with all due dates and deadlines. • Most college applications are completed entirely online. Some colleges will use Common App, Send.edu or Universal College Websites for their applications. Some colleges will have you do YOUR part online, but will have additional forms for counselors to fill out. Any paper application forms that need to be completed by the counselor need to be turned into the records office. • Colleges that are not on the common app ( 700 are) please fill out the green non-common app routing slip located in the counseling office and turn it into your counselor. • Give teachers at least two weeks notification for recommendations. • Please allow up to three weeks (15 business days) for PHS to process college applications. • Computers for student use are available in the Counseling Office, Career Center and Media Center.

Common Application Information 10 • Over 700 schools use the Common Application. • Make sure you complete all supplements for each school. • Counselor will complete the recommendation and school information online for common app. • Please allow three weeks (15 business days) for processing applications at Pioneer • Please fill out a non – common app routing slip located in the counseling office to inform your counselor of other schools you have applied to.

  11. Testing and Transcript Information 12 • Transcript must be sent through www.parchment.com • ACT test scores must be sent through www.act.org • SAT and AP test scores must be sent through www.collegeboard.com

Recommendations 14 • Counselor recommendations are based on: • Student Profile, Parent Brag Sheet, the student interview and the transcript • Students will be contacted by their current counselor if more information is needed for letters • Students/Parents can provide updated information to current counselors via email • Teacher recommendations

Important Dates 16 • 9/19/16 Begin accepting college applications in the General Office • 10/17/16 Last day to submit applications for schools with early notification deadlines of November 1 • 11/22/16 Last day to turn in applications to ensure they will be mailed by winter break this includes applications with January 1-15 deadlines) • 1/12/17Financial Aid/Scholarship Night • The Gap Year Fair this year will be in Rochester Hills

  16. Staying on Track Senior Year 17 • Remember WHO is applying to college—encourage and help stay on track but be sure student is doing the work • Maintain a rigorous schedule the entire year • Do not drop academic classes second semester • Admission can be rescinded if grades slip and academic rigor decreases
