Professional Development • Establish professional development opportunities to support scientific literacy statewide and build capacity among science educators and other stakeholders across the state to provide technical assistance regionally and locally. Testing Requirements for Accelerated Grade 8 Students • School principals have the discretion to either require or waive the Grade 8 Intermediate-Level Science Test for those accelerated Grade 8 students who did not take this examination during the previous school year but who will be taking a Regents examination. Physical Setting/Earth Science • The written portion of the Regents Examination consists of: • Part A - multiple choice • Part B - multiple choice and constructed-response • Part C - constructed-response and extended constructed-response • The lab-practical performance component for the 2006 administration of the Regents Examination in Physical Setting/Earth Science will be the 2001 Edition of the Earth Science Performance Test.
