  1. Meerkats By Nicole Kreuz

  2. Habitat • Meerkats live in the Kalahari desert in Botswana and in South Africa

  3. Animal • Meerkats come from the mongoose family. They grow to be about 1 to 2 ft tall, they have curved claws that are used for digging burrows underground, and also have a long, thin tail that is 17 to 24 cm long.

  4. What they eat • Meerkats eat bugs, roots, fruit, and eggs but they will eat just about anything

  5. Their habitat • If I was creating a habitat for a meerkat in the zoo I would make sure that there was rocks and sand so that they could make a burrow underground. I would also make sure that the temperature was the same as the desert and I would make sure that there is water in their new habitat.
