Hillary Clinton On The Economy • $70 billion plan to "jump start" the economy • $30 billion to help states and cities mitigate foreclosures • $25 billion for home heating grants for the poor • $5 billion for energy conservation grants to create jobs • $10 billion to be added to unemployment insurance • Lower taxes for middle class families by: • Extending the middle class tax cuts, • Offering new tax cuts for healthcare, college and retirement, • Expanding the child care tax credit • Voted to limit credit card interest to 30% • Wants to freeze mortgage interest rates for five years

Barack Obama On The Economy • Has plan for tax relief to middle and working classes, including: • Eliminating taxes for elderly workers making less than $50,000 • Changing tax return filing to an easier system saving $2 billion • Giving a tax credit of $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family, eliminating income taxes for 10 million Americans • Ensure free trade by amending NAFTA • Expand the Family and Medical Leave Act • Voted against limiting credit to 30%, because 30% too high • Confront China about currency manipulation

Hillary Clinton On Iraq • Voted in 2002 to authorize invasion, now opposed to war • Would ask other countries to help implement three specific goals: • Convince Iraq's neighbors to refrain from getting involved in the civil war • Mediate among the different sectarian groups in Iraq • Hold other countries to their past pledges to provide funding to repair Iraq • Wants to begin phased withdrawal within 60 days of taking office, with the goal to have most troops out by the end of 2013

Barack Obama On Iraq • Opposed invasion from the beginning • Open dialogue with Syria and Iran (among other countries) to: • Help secure Iraq’s borders • Keep neighboring countries from meddling inside Iraq • Isolate al Qaeda • Support reconciliation among Iraq’s sectarian groups, and • Provide financial support for Iraq’s reconstruction • International voice in Iraq in exchange for debt forgiveness • Wants to withdraw one or two brigades a month to finish within 16 months

Hillary Clinton On Health Care • Local smoking bans ok, but no national ban • FDA should compare drug effectiveness--not just safety • Insurance companies cannot deny people coverage • Use electronic medical records to save $120 billion • Make insurance plan portable from job to job • Universal health care coverage by the end of second term

Barack Obama On Health Care • Require that all children have health insurance, with goal of universal coverage • Reimburse employers for catastrophic health costs • Provide subsidies for low-income people • National smoking bans only after trying local bans • No one turned away due to illness or pre-existing condition • Allow seniors to make bulk purchases of Rx drugs

Hillary Clinton On Foreign Policy • Will not meet with leaders of foreign countries we are at odds with until “discovering their intentions” • Confront China on human rights abuses • Promote women’s rights in Arabic countries • Keep Cuban embargo • Support building schools in poor areas of the world • Reject isolationism and make human rights issues the main objective abroad • Support micro-loans to women in 3rd World Countries

Barack Obama On Foreign Policy • Willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Kim Jung Il & Hugo Chavez • Invest in our relationship with Mexico • $50B annually to strengthen weak countries • Must abide by international human rights treaties • Expand the Military • Make human rights and democracy main issues overseas • America should fight global poverty, and deploy civilian aid workers, especially in Africa

Hillary Clinton On Education • K-12 • Get rid of No Child Left Behind • Recruit and retain more teachers with salary increases • Supports public school choice; but not private or parochial • Allow student prayer, but no religious instruction • Does not support vouchers • College Access • Create a new $3,500 college tax credit • Increase the maximum Pell Grant • $10,000 college scholarship for participation in AmeriCorps full-time for one year • Hold college costs down and hold colleges accountable

Barack Obama On Education • K-12 • Reform No Child Left Behind by giving it more money • More teacher pay in exchange for more teacher accountability • Make Math and Science education a national priority • Support transitional bilingual education to ensure students complete school • Supports charter schools and private investment in schools • College Access • Create a tax credit of $4,000 for college education a year • Streamlining the financial aid process by enabling families to apply by only checking a box on their tax form

Hillary Clinton On Homeland Security • Work against the spread of nuclear proliferation by supporting a nuclear test band treaty • National security is more important than human rights • Register women for draft • Previously supported torture in “extreme situation” but has since changed position to no torture • Supports funding research on missile defense • Federalize aviation security

Barack Obama On Homeland Security • Supports a world without nuclear weapons • Register women for draft, but not for combat • Human rights and National Security are complimentary • No presidential power for secret surveillance • No holding US citizens as unlawful enemy combatants • Expand Peace Corps and AmeriCorps to 266,000 slots

Hillary Clinton On Immigration • Oppose granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants • More border patrolling on both Mexican and Canadian borders • Sanctuary cities ok; local police can't enforce immigration • Provide a path to citizenship through military service • Federal assistance to our state and local governments • Strict penalties for those who exploit undocumented workers

Hillary Clinton On Energy and the Environment • Will make “big oil” fund alternative energy research • Allow low and middle-income Americans to buy green homes and invest in green home improvements • Require all publicly traded companies report financial risks due to climate change • Creation of a "National Energy Council" within the White House to ensure implementation of the plan across the Executive Branch. • $650 for help with energy bills for the poor
