Community Solutions to Combat Sexual Violence in Indigenous Communities
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre's Nguru Program addresses sexual violence as a community issue needing collective solutions. Offering counselling and support services for survivors—women, children, and men—our program also assists family members and the broader community. We provide crisis support, referrals, and case management, along with advocacy at the court level and collaboration with other agencies to meet Indigenous needs. Our community education initiatives and workshops aim to empower stakeholders and build awareness around key Indigenous issues regarding sexual violence.
