News from the UWB Network • News from prototype development • Publications • IEEE ICUWB 08 deadline Feb 10, 2008 • Nanotera initiative • C. Dehollain participates in proposal 1
Next Meetings • MICS scientific conference January 21-23, 2007 • All PhD students and faculty funded by MICS expected to participate • Final version of demo • I will give a report on the work of the UWB network • Please send me any graphical + video material before Dec 19 at the latest 2
MICS Phase 2: Prototype Development • We need to define the goals of the prototype development effort for the coming 2 years; final decision should be made end of January • Ideally, should prepare the way to MICS phase 3 • Three possible directions were mentioned already • Interference testbed • Mobile robots with rangingcollaboration with EPFL ENAC • Crypto modulation / authenticated rangingcollaboration with MICS Cluster 3 3
MICS Phase 3 • MICS phase 2 ends October 2009 • There will likely be a MICS phase 3 • Of a different nature • Make $$$$ value $$$$ out of the research • UWB network is a large project within MICS • Proposal • Produce a coordinated portfolio of patents • Ownership remains with home institution (EPFL, ETHZ, CSEM, HES-SO) • But can be sold / licensed as a package • Requests for funding in MICS phase 3 will be in priority given to groups that • Have contributed to patents • Plan to do more 4
