Company History • In 1975, The Charlotte Russe clothing retailer was founded, and its first store was opened in Carlsbad, California. • In September 1996, Bernie Zeichner and Saunders Karp & Megrue, a private equity investment firm, acquired Charlotte Russe from its founders with the intent of expanding its services on a national level. • During the following 20 years, the Company grew into a 35-store regional chain concentrated in Southern California generating $70 million of annual sales.
