  3. Licensing Objectives Three Licensing Objectives to ensure that:- • Gambling remains crime free • Gambling is conducted openly and fairly • Children and vulnerable adults are protected.

  4. Role of Local Authority • Consideration of three year gambling policy. • Consideration of premises licences • Maintenance of Public Register • Enforcement

  5. Statement of Gambling Policy • approval by Council • subject to review • review of licensing guidance

  6. Timetable • Act passed 7th April 2005 • Draft Statement of Gambling Policy out for consultation 26th June 2006 to 8th September 2006 • Full Council approval 23rd November 2006

Primarily to protect third parties, particularly workers, from exposure to the harmful effects of second hand smoke How? By working with businesses, particularly the Licensing Trade, to ensure successful implementation
