Lou Holtz The Treasure Tower Reward Program motivates students to have a positive learning attitude which expands their ability to reach new levels of achievement.

What We Do • We provide a Treasure Tower stocked with fun, motivating rewards and place it in a central location so it can be utilized by every teacher, administrator and school staff member. • We rotate the rewards regularly so as to keep them fun and exciting for students month after month, year after year. • We keep your school supplied with Super Student Tokens to be awarded to deserving students who in turn use the tokens to redeem for prizes at the Treasure Tower.

  4. What You Do • You determine what goals to set for your students and what the reward requirements need to be. A principal’s goal might be for students to learn the school song while a teacher’s goal might be for students to earn a certain number of AR points. • You establish a tracking system to measure a student’s progress (points, play money, etc.). Most likely the system currently used will still work. The Super Student Token is only awarded once the student has met the set requirements. • You get to enjoy watching your students be motivated to work hard with a positive learning attitude to achieve the goals you have set for them. Once goals are met, you have the fun of awarding the Super Student Tokens to deserving students.

  5. The Treasure Tower • Students will be “wowed” by the Treasure Tower! The “event” of turning it around and deciding which toy they want is half the fun. • Toys, jewelry, and bouncy balls are separated into 8 sections, guaranteeing students will receive the reward they want. • Since we constantly rotate and add new toys, the Treasure Tower never grows old. It will continue to motivate students for the duration of their elementary years. • Instead of spreading germs while rummaging through a box or drawer of toys, students will receive a clean, germ-free reward as it falls down the Treasure Tower chute into their hands. • The Treasure Tower rotates 360 degrees so it can be placed in a corner or next to a wall and not use valuable space.

Super Student Award Token • The Super Student Tokenis a uniform reward whichcan be distributed by all school personnel (i.e. principal, teachers, office staff, bus drivers, counselors, janitors, lunchroom staff, etc.) . • Although the requirements may vary, the Super Student Token acts as a fair and consistent reward throughout the school. • The Super Student Token is a tangible reminder to the child they are a super student and it cannot be duplicated or destroyed.

Benefits • Teachers and staff no longer need to search for rewards & incentives for their students. • Children won’t use classroom time to choose rewards. • Eliminates the problem of candy and food rewards. • Students can choose their reward without supervision. This saves valuable classroom time as well as staff time in the office. • No need to worry about guarding a box or drawer of prizes in the classroom. • Reward costs are fixed. Students receive one prize per token awarded.

Positive Reinforcement Positive reinforcement along with rewards for achievement will motivate students and produce a positive learning attitude to help them rise up and meet their goals. • Students are first acknowledged for their accomplishments when they are awarded a Super Student Token. • Students enjoy the anticipation of getting to make a special trip to the office to redeem their token. • Once they arrive in the office, students are recognized a second time by the office staff. The “event” of choosing their reward from the Treasure Tower is half the fun. • In the end, they have a fun toy to take home and remind them of their accomplishment.

Suggested Uses • Reading Incentive – accelerated reading program • Math Incentive - multiplication & division mastery • Good Behavior – being on task, helpful, cooperative • Lunchroom – being quiet, clean and emptying tray • Life Skills – honest, polite, kind, courteous, prompt • Bus Behavior – daily transportation & field trips • Attendance – lack of tardiness and absences

  15. Funding Options • PTA/PTO funds can be delegated to cover a portion of the cost. • Local businesses can sponsor the program for one month intervals. In turn, they can be recognized in the school newsletter. • Parents can help sponsor individual teachers so as to provide tokens for their child’s classroom. • Some schools are using “Title 1” money under “rewards & incentives” or are obtaining grant money to fund the program. • Teachers always have the option of using personal funds to purchase tokens.
