  1. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10

  2. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 Without the oil of forgiveness, churches seize up Luke 17:3 “So watch yourselves”

  3. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 When someone in church “treads on your toes”, what should you do? Not: self-pity, anger, gossip Instead, Luke 17:3 “Rebuke him” Why do I need to go when I haven’t done anything wrong? The one with the sore toes goes because he’s the one who always knows!

  4. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 If he repents, forgive him Luke 17:3 If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him That’s the easy bit. Now for the hard part: Luke 17:4If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, `I repent,' forgive him.“ God forgives us MANY times – shows us grace – we ought to do the same for each other

  5. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 1. “I’m not spiritual enough to do that” Even a teensy bit of faith is enough. If you’re a believer, you can forgive. It’s about obedience, not faith.

  6. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 2. “They’re not really sorry” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind…it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs…It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love always hopes for the best – no room for cynicism

  7. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 3. “I don’t feel like forgiving” Luke 17:7-10 It’s not about feelings, it’s about duty and obedience.

  8. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 4. “What if my Christian brother/sister won’t repent?” Matthew 18:15-17 "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that `every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

  9. #2 – Forgiveness Between Believers Luke 17:1-10 5. “This seems a lot of palaver every time I’m offended” 1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
