  3. Sitting under a sermon from the text should not only teach us something, but prepare us to encounter the living God…are you ready to encounter the living God?

  4. “According to Luke, Jesus was the physician who came to heal not the healthy but the sick and to provide righteousness to those who knew themselves to be poor spiritually while resisting the spiritually proud and self-sufficient.”

  5. “Luke was a well-educated Gentile doctor and a close friend of Paul (Col 4:14), one who traveled with him near the end of his life, when apparently other-wise alone (2Tm 4:11)”

  6. Mar 4:39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mar 4:40 He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?"

  7. Luke 5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

  13. Luke 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

  14. Mar 4:1 Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. Mar 4:2 And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them. (ESV)

  15. Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

  16. Luke 5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

  17. Luke 5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

  18. John 21:6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. (ESV)
