EGEE Project Update and Expansion to South-East Europe

This update provides information on the EGEE project funded by the European Union, with production sites in Greece, Israel, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and plans for expansion in Romania. Production sites: 128 CPUs • HG-01-GRNET (64) [GR] • Auth (8) [GR] • Weizmann (22) [IL] • Tau (18) [IL] • BG01-IPP (2) [BG] • CY01 (14) [CY] • Met the realistic target • Problem in the TA regarding number of CPUs • To join in the future: • RO01-ICI [RO] • 2 sites in BG • 2 sites in IL • 4 sites in GR: M15 • VOs supported: HEP, Biomed (BG) Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 2

  3. Pre-production • Initially had 6 candidates • BG, RO: strategic decision to commit to production due to lack of resources • IL also more interest in production • GR: UoMacedonia site joined pre-production (SL3 wns); 1 more to follow. • Will expand the service if needed. Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 3

  4. SEE Portal • www.egee-see.org • Central contact point: operators, potential users • Documentation, links, helpdesk, monitoring, etc. • +national initiatives with own portals (CY, IL, BG, GR) in local languages Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 4

  5. Monitoring • GridIce server in GR • Generally SEE prepared to perform pro-active monitoring, but dependent on EGEE policy Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 5

Operational support • https://helpdesk.egee-see.org/ • Oneorzero helpdesk operational, RO • Top-level helpdesk for the region for operational support • First-level filter before CICs and OMC • Starting to be used for enforcing operational policies and tracking operational problems • Will follow INFN-GGUS i/f Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 6

  7. CAs • CY, IL, GR • RO and BG have plans to deploy own CAs • SEE catch-all-CA established in GR to support SEE countries without own CA Den Haag, Nov 2004 - 7
