GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION AND TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE • Shortest and the fastest route between Western Europe and Asia as well as between Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean • 3 out of 10 Pan-European transport corridors pass through Croatia • Newly constructed highway system • 6 sea ports – Croatia is the most favourable country for the maritime transport from Asia, Australia and Oceania through the Suez Channel to Europe – shortening shipping time by at least 5 to 8 days. It is also the best solution for transport of goods from Europe to North and South America and Africa. • 7 national airports

  4. EU / NATO • Croatia joined NATO in 2009 • Accession negotiations started in 2006 • EU funding available – OPPORTUNITY!

MINISTRY OF DEFENCE • 2.8 billion Kuna planned toward equipping and modernization of the main combat system in the Croatian Air Force and Air Defense MAIN AIR FORCE AND AIR DEFENSE EQUIPPING PROJECTS: • Multi-purpose combat aircraft • Equipping for chemical and biological detection; detection and dose measurement of radiation • Flight servicing resources • Aircraft maintenance equipment • Communication and Information Systems • Non-combat motor vehicle and transport means

MINISTRY OF DEFENCE Croatian navy • 1.1 billion Kuna planned for equipping and modernization of the main naval combat system over a ten year period MAIN NAVY EQUIPPING PROJECTS: • Communication Information Systems • 4 open sea patrol ships • Resources for chemical and biological detection; detection and dose measurement of radiation • Other ships (residential, launches, training, boats, cutters)

MINISTRY OF DEFENCE • 3.6 billion Kuna planned for equipping and modernization of the Army over a ten year period MAIN ARMY EQUIPPING PROJECTS • Selected infantry weapons of NATO calibre • Non-combat Motor Vehicles • Communication Information Systems • Engineering machines and vehicles • Assault rifle, light machines gun and universal machine fun in NATO calibre • S-10 light self-propelled missile system • Amphibious equipment • Fire Management System for battery and battalion • M -84A Tank modernization • Means and equipment for NBC defense

MINISTRY OF INTERIOR • PROJECTS AND PLANNES FOR PERIOD 2011-2013 • Equipping the border control in line with the Schengen standards • 14 entirely new border crossing station to be built • Adjust entire legal framework with the EU legislation • Enhance the MOI capacity for use of EU funds • Infrastructure for asylum seekers and visa applicants • Professionalization, modernization, rationalization, democratization, transformation and integration of administration capacities • Enhance the existing education system • HR management system

SECURITY SECTOR IN CROATIA • Regulated by Laws • 2009. – 150 million Euros • The Croatian government has announced a plan for the 30 public sector investment projects (energy, tourism, water management, transport infrastructure) – 14 billion Euros • Croatia has set a new definition of Critical Infrastructure – new security measures • Croatia often hosts major sports events (World Handball Championship, European Water polo Championship, International Athletics Cups, Davis Cup matches..) • In 2008. City of Zagreb has formed the Office for Resilience and Disaster Recovery – very active in gathering foreign experiences • As tourist country – ports and airports security very important
